Lesson 4 — Negative command forms — Part 1

The simplest way to make a command negative is just to add ini– to the verb. This is not quite the same as making a regular command.
You don't drop the second person marker p– as you might expect.
you don't add a glottal stop or glottalize the last consonant the way you do with itaq "listen" and kutil "look!"
Negative command forms are identical to regular statements. The only difference is in how you interpret them:
    statement command
ini–p–uli "you don't grab it" or "don't grab it! don't take it!"
ini–p–i–nukum "you two don't bring it" or "don't bring it, you two!"
ini–p–iy–otoyin "you all don't lie down" or "don't lie down"
There's another way to form negative commands. It's actually somewhat more common that negative commands with ini– but it's also complicated, so it's not discussed for a few more lessons.
